Return to Play

First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. We knew from the beginning of restrictions that COVID-19 would change this year’s athletic season. We know this outbreak has been stressful to many and recognize that exercising and participating in activities like sports can be a healthy way to cope with stress and connect with our community. And our goal from the start was to get the players back out on the fields as soon as it was safe to do so. After careful thought and planning, we are excited to let you know that we plan to resume youth soccer while following CDC considerations to protect players, families, and our community.

The health and safety of our players, staff, and volunteers remain our highest priority.  We have developed a Return to Play Protocol that has been approved by PA West and socialized to coaches.  Please take time to read through this carefully as it provides details on expectations that we have of players, parents, coaches, and the club as a whole.  Soccer might look a bit different this year, but we're happy to get the kids back onto the pitch playing the game they love!

In addition, there is a Participation Waiver required by all coaches and players that must be completed before participating in any soccer related activity.  This can be  completed ahead of your first game/practice and handed to a coach, or we will have them at the fields for your convenience.

Finally, we at Plum Area Youth Soccer want to stress that the health and safety of our players, staff, and volunteers remains our highest priority.  As you will see throughout the Return to Play Guidelines, if you or your child are sick, STAY HOME!  This is for your safety and the safety of others and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

If you should have any questions regarding this protocol or anything else about the season, don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] and we will route your question accordingly.  See you at the fields!

Coach Resources

This season will be very different for coaches as they try to adhere to the new social distancing guidelines while still teaching kids the game of soccer and helping them to enjoy their time at the fields.  The following recommendations should be considered while coming up with practice plans:
  • Develop training plans that maintain social distancing during training sessions
  • Limit the amount of scrimmaging during training sessions
  • Try to limit the amount of time spent scrimmaging (i.e. do not scrimmage the entire practice)
