Welcome to the 2011 Plum Kick-off Classic. We appreciate your
dedication to your Clubs, Teams, PA West and the Plum Soccer Program. We
anticipate great weather, a good game atmosphere and plenty of good
competition. Thank you in advance for participating in our tournament
this year. The following contains information on game-day.
There are two different ways to view the schedule. You can drill down
to your age group and view your games or you can simply go to the master
schedule; choose the proper tab in the spreadsheet and search for your
games. All games are under the name of the team.
If you go to the spreadsheet, the schedule is built in tab format via
age group (U-10, 11, 12, 13 and 14). The cells in yellow represent
girls and those in gray are the boys. Please make sure that you are
looking at the right color for the name of your team. There are a few
clubs that have the same team name (different genders) in the same age
group so it is important that you follow the color gender code of gray
and yellow.
Field Location and Lay-Out
There are three locations we are using this year: the Main Fields at our
facility (Larry Mills Park); Penn Hall (PH) and Boyce Park.
* All U-11 and 12 games are at the main fields (2, 3, 4, 6, 8)
with the exception of four teams playing at Boyce. Those four teams
have already been notified (Boyce Field 1);
* The U-10 fields are primarily at the main facility (5 and 7)
with four carry-over games at Penn Hall (PH);
* The U-13/14 age groups will be using a combination of a field
at the Main facility, Penn Hall (PH) and Boyce Park (Boyce 2 and 3).
There is one U-13/14 field at the Main facility (Larry mills Park); two
fields at Boyce; and one at Penn Hall. Due to an overwhelming demand
for teams in the U-13/14 division this year, we were not able to
schedule at least one game for every team at U-13/14 main fields, which
was our goal. We also encountered many situations that forced us to
schedule some team's at all three fields. We apologize in advance for
this but all fields are within 12 minutes of each other. There is at
least 2+ hours in between every game so there is plenty of time to move
from field to field.
The distance between fields is no more than 12 minutes and we will have
signs posted as well as directions available at all the field concession
stands and the main registration tent. Please take special care in
determining the field you are on and that you communicate this to all
team members. We had many parents arrive at the main fields last year
when they were playing at Boyce. Again, there are three fields: the
Main facility, Boyce and Penn Hall.

Games
All teams have a combination of games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
There are a select number of teams that will play two games on Sunday.
All teams play three games. Some local teams around Plum may be playing
Friday night, a second game Saturday and the third on Sunday. We had to
expand our definition of local teams so some teams that normally do not
play Friday are indeed scheduled and this was due to all the additional
teams we made room for this year.
As the head coach, look for the field marshal before the game - they
will be looking for you. They will sign you in and review your roster
and player cards before the game. When the game is over, go to the
middle of the field where the field marshal will have you sign the game
card. This is important to verify the score. If a game card is not
signed by the coach, the game score can not be authenticated.
Coach Game-Day Registration
Every coach needs to sign-in 45 minutes before their first weekend
match. Give yourself enough time if your first match is at Boyce or
Penn Hall, as you have to register at the Main Fields. If you are at
Boyce or Penn Hall, tell the parking director and will point you to the
upper parking lot. As you pull in the lot, there are designated spaces
for the coaches to park so you can quickly register and go to Penn Hall
or Boyce. Please contact me the week prior to the tournament if you are
a coach traveling from a far distances and your first game at 8am. I
can make special arrangements for you to check-in ahead of time.
1. Every coach should have two copies of their PA West
stickered roster (we do not have a copy machine at the fields). You
keep one to show the Field Marshalls and we will keep one (you do not
get the second copy back). Guest player names should be written on the
roster with a note that they are your guest players. Some clubs have
not yet had their Registrar meeting with PA West. In these cases, bring
your Spring roster or a copy of the roster that your Club Registrar
plans to submit to PA West (preferred). All participants on your team
need their player cards or birth certificate. If the player card has
not yet been issued (especially for U-10's), a birth certificate is
required. All guest players need a birth certificate or a PA West
player card. No player without a player card or birth certificate will
be permitted to play. There is a maximum of three guest players allowed
per team.
2. You also need to bring a medical release form for each player
which we will keep. The PA West medical release forms are acceptable or
your Club standard medical release forms. The Plum medical release form
is attached. Note - bring copies as we keep the forms and do not return
them.

Parking
When arriving at the Main fields, tell the parking people what field
your first game is on. We will try and direct them to a lot by that
field.
Parking will be on-sight and is going to be tight. We ask you to
car-pool as much as possible. We would greatly appreciate it if you
could inform your families to join together in one car, if possible.
For those of you that have joined us in the past, we have had three main
parking areas and created a forth lot last year that held about 120
extra spots. We also created another which will be for Plum coaches and
staff. This lot is marked and is not to be used by other teams. We
have also painted line markers to help achieve getting the most cars we
can in each lot. We will have a parking crew to guide you. We are also
asking that you park a few feet away from the other cars in the lots.
We can put many more cars in each lot if vehicles are not parked
five-feet from one another. We are working on some secondary lots with
possible buses that will be used for all Plum teams and overflow. The
lot is 3- minutes from the main facility and may be used if parking gets
too congested in the afternoon.
T-Shirts
Deadline for ordering tee-shirts is this Friday, August 19th. The tee
shirts have a great 2011 design on the front of them this year and will
have all the team names on the back. If you did not yet provide your
official team name (Plum Strikers), please do so that your proper name
will be printed on the shirts. Your orders can be sent to the P.O. Box
on the order form. You can send them via email if time is critical, but
we really prefer that you mail-in the orders. We will have a very
minimal amount of T-Shirts and sizes available for sale at the
tournament. Last year we sold out all adult T-Shirts so please
pre-order. Please only submit one order form per team through the coach
or team manager.
Inquiries
Your coach should act as the spokesperson for your team. If a problem
or issue arises about the game, all parent inquiries should be filtered
through the coach. We are more than happy to address all concerns and
the coach is the only person that has authority to bring these concerns
to the tournament director or the Executive committee. We will answer
all questions direct from the parents that are not related to the game.

Game Times and Fields
Friday night games are designated for most local teams. Saturday and
Sunday games will start at 8 am and will run through 7 pm. We have
tried to accommodate teams as much as possible in the scheduling. Local
teams may play all three days. Teams traveling longer distances should
plan accordingly for some early Saturday and Sunday games (with so many
teams we were forced to schedule some teams across Pittsburgh for early
games which we have tried to avoid in the past). Please ensure you view
the schedule and know what fields you are on. Many teams will not be
playing on the same fields for each game.
Rules of Competition
Below are the Rules of Competition for the tournament. We follow the
guidelines of PA West. Please note we have the right to change the
rules for the Plum Kick-off Classic and will make the best decision
possible if mother nature does not cooperate. Please review the rules
before the tournament and contact us if you have any questions.
Activities and Food
At the main fields, we will have many activities for the kids. There
will be airbrush tattoos; a soccer radar gun; window decals; a
photographer; a bouncy house; a PA West Coach running mini clinics;
merchandise and much more. Food will be available at the main fields;
light food will be provided at Penn Hall and Boyce. This year, mainly
for parents, we have expanded our food items from hot dogs and
hamburgers to beef brisket and pulled pork.
