The in-house program has been designed to
develop each child’s individual skill first, and their teamwork skills
second. Basic concepts will be introduced each week and will provide the
foundation each child needs to become a quality soccer player. Healthy
competition will be our focus – no child will be encouraged to “kill the
other team” or “kick their butts”. This type of negative attitude does not
belong in a youth athletic program and will not be tolerated in Plum
Area Soccer’s in-house program. The in-house soccer program is designed to
be fun and developmental for the children, therefore, a score should not be
kept. All teams are winners and there should not be any losers. Be
positive! Never criticize! Allow your child to be a child.
Coaches have at their disposal a wide
range of material that will help them to structure practices in a way that
will teach specific skills. If at any time you have a question or concern
about the information being presented to your child, we ask that you speak
to the coach directly in an “adult only” environment. Please remember that
each coach has unselfishly volunteered his/her time to guide your child, and
they should be thanked for their generous time and efforts.
The in-house program is broken into five age groups. The five age groups are U5, U6, U7, U8 and U10. U5 and U6 are coed divisions. U7, U8 and U10 are gender based. In-house games will be scheduled on Saturday mornings usually between the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The games are 1 hour long. If games are canceled or delayed, you will be notified by your team parent or coach by no latter than 9:00 AM the day of the game. You may also check our web site for cancellations and news at www.plumsoccer.org .
Soccer
Shoe Exchange
Those of you whose children have outgrown soccer shoes
this is your chance to donate those shoes for other kids to use instead of
just tossing them in the garbage.
We are looking for : gently used soccer shoes. If you are
wanting to donate some old shoes, keep this things in mind when dropping
them off:
- they should be cleaned
- the laces should be tied together -
to keep the mates from being seperated
- the size of the shoe should be
showing - either tagged on the laces or the pair of shoes put into a
shopping bag w/the size written on the outside.
Since most people are out purchasing new shoes for the
start of the season - now is the best time to gather the old ones before
people start throwing them out.
For the first couple weeks there will be a donation box of some sort up
at the fields - by the pavilion or shed - for you to drop those shoes
off.
OR
You can bring those shoes to our games/practices and give them to me,
Janet Abdulovic, Plum Shoe Exchange Coordinator. If you have any
questions, please email me at
jamafir@comcast.net or give me a call 412-798-8782. I will gather
shoes now and at the end of the season as well
